WEA Today and For the Future
Scholarship Preservation Program (SPP)
Participating in SPP is a priceless gift to a designated child. A donor commits to being the sponsor for a qualified student and to renew her/his gift annually simply on the premise that “if God continues to bless the sponsor, they will continue to bless the child.” This annual gift provides continuity of education for the sponsored student and relieves the stress parents face year to year wondering whether or not, due to financial instability, their child will be able to return to school the following year.
The minimum yearly SPP scholarship per child is $1,000 annually. A sponsor can also designate any amount beyond $1,000 and is not restricted to the suggested levels.
Should financial circumstances change for the sponsor, WEA will continue to provide the student’s scholarship.
The SPP student will communicate to her/his sponsor by letters and the sponsor will be invited to “Juice & Donuts” each winter to meet and enjoy an activity together at school. More options to communicate are available if requested by the sponsor. Children receiving an SPP scholarship feel very ‘special’ knowing they have a sponsor who is in their corner year to year and who ensures that a seat in the classroom is ready for them each Fall. Helpful Q&A about WEA’s sponsorship program are included in the SPP Sponsorship Guide here. To sign up or learn more, please see instructions below.

General Scholarships
Providing a General Scholarship is a critical avenue of support for children whose needs vary and do not necessarily require year to year financial aid. A donation can be made in any amount to the General Scholarship Fund which will benefit one or more children in need. This level of contribution offers flexibility for the donor and often fills an unexpected gap for a child’s continued education due to a change in a parent’s financial commitment due to job loss, health issue, etc. Being that anchor for a student is very rewarding for a donor as they have ensured that a child will not be left outside the classroom. To sign up or learn more, please see instructions below.
High School Scholarships
Our goal is to help students attend private Catholic high schools, but high school tuition is about three times the cost of elementary school. Many parents can't bridge this gap without scholarship funds or financial aid. WEA awards individual scholarships up to $5,000 and also partners with The Flaherty Family Foundation (FFF) to award combined scholarships for four years in a private Catholic high school. Recipients must be high achieving students with the greatest financial need. FFF/WEA monitors and guides recipients from 8th to 12th grade, ensuring they meet qualifications each year. Donations can be made in any amount to the High School Scholarship Fund. See instructions below.
